Expert SEO Overhaul Services for Better Rankings
If you are looking to give your website the best chance of getting indexed by the search engines, but do not want to commit to a full ongoing SEO campaign then there is an alternative.
An SEO Overhaul is the first essential step towards optimisation of your site and in fact needs to be carried out before it is even worth considering any ongoing SEO or digital marketing. Below is an outline of what is covered as part of an SEO overhaul as well as the costs involved.
SEO Overhaul – What’s Included?
When we undertake an SEO Overhaul of your website we look at all of the pages and posts that make up the site, analyse each for its SEO state and make changes in order to maximise its SEO potential. This involves looking at the page title, the URL, the position of the page within the overall site structure, the use of heading tags, the keywords, meta description formatting and page content itself.
In many cases incorrect use of heading tags and missing keywords and meta descriptions mean a page is either not getting indexed at all by search engines, or even if it is getting indexed it is being pushed way down into the depths of the search listings where it is unlikely to ever be found.
A brief overview of the key parts of an SEO Overhaul
FOCUS KEYWORD
Research is carried out to identify the keywords or phrases best suited to your industry, product or service and these are then used strategically throughout the site.
Why does this matter?
The keyword associated with each page is critical from an SEO point of view and needs to be researched and identified in relation to the page content itself. The keyword is sometime called a key phrase since it may not always be a single word but can be a few words but never more than that. For instance a keyword on a page on a musical instrument site might be ‘guitar’, but a better key phrase to use might be ‘Taylor Acoustic Guitar’ depending on the content of the page itself.
META DESCRIPTION
The Meta Description is a hidden bit of code that can be used to ‘steer’ the search engine and help it accurately index the page. As part of the SEO overhaul we review each page and write a tailored meta description for it based on the elements that need to be included.
Why does this matter?
The Meta Description is actually what appears on the SERP (Search Engine Results Page) under the page title when you see the results of your search. It must relate to the page content from a contextual point of view and usually contains the focus keyword.
PAGE TITLE
The page title is one of the most important elements in terms of SEO and it should always incorporate the focus keyword.
Why does this matter?
The page title is not necessarily the same as the navigation title that links to the page in the menu. It should always incorporate the focus keyword, and other relevant keywords where possible that retain the context of the page content and it usually also determines how the URL is going to be structured as this too benefits from including the keyword or phrase.
URL STRUCTURE
The URL structure is critical in relation to SEO and as part of the overhaul we look at what improvements can be made to incorporate this vital and often overlooked element of SEO.
Why does this matter?
The URL structure is often either not seen or not noticed by most site visitors, but to the search engines it is really important. It’s what appears after the domain name that you use for you website. An example might be – mywebsite.com/about-us – the ‘about-us’ bit is the part if the URL that takes the user to that page. However, ‘about-us’ does not really provide a great deal of information to the search engine so it’s a big missed opportunity from an optimisation point of view.
Using the musical instrument site as an example again, a better URL might be – mywebsite.com/about-smart-guitars-the-leading-guitar-shop-in-oxfordshire – it’s identifying and implementing opportunities like this that are part of the SEO Overhaul.
PAGE CONTENT AND LINKS
Changing the content of the page is not part of the SEO Overhaul but we look at the content itself to ensure that it is focused on a single main subject which relates to the keywords chosen, the page title, the meta description, as well as identifying opportunities to create internal and external links.
Why does this matter?
It is important that all of the elements that affect SEO are aligned so the page content needs to relate to the page title, the keyword, and the meta description. Incoporating internal and external links also help enourmously with search engine indexing.
SEO PAGE SCORE
When we work on your SEO we use specialist SEO software that allows us to identify what elements within each page need to be worked on to ensure the page is indexed as we need.
Why does this matter?
All of the SEO work carried out on each of the pages in your website result in a overall SEO page score which determines whether search engines are likely to index the page, or simply choose to discard it in favour of a page that meets its requirements.
We aim to achieve a page score for each of the pages on a website of at least 80, but can often, depending on the page content achieve even higher scores.
IMPLEMENTAION
The SEO Overhaul is a two part process. First of all we analyse your website and identify the changes that are required. This data makes up the report that is mentioned below, but it also becomes the worksheet used to implement the changes identified as required to optimise the site.
We will of course need access to your website in order to make these changes but all of the changes required are carried out an complete as part of the SEO Overhaul fee.
SEO CHANGES REPORT
Once we have completed the work on your site you will receive a report outlining the changes made to all of the above. In some cases we may change existing URL’s which will result in broken links but as part of the SEO Overhaul an redirects that are required as a result of these changes will be put in place and identified in the report.
The report will also include the SEO score achieved for each of your pages so you will be able to see better the impact of the changes made.
CONCLUSION
SEO is a constantly changing environment. The search engines are frequently changing their algorithms in order to try and stop people gaming the system, resulting in their pages appearing on the search engines when they shouldn’t. At PULSE SEO we aim to work within the search engines guidelines so your website appears high in the listing based on merit, rather than through cheating.
Although you can buy your place on the search by using things like Google AdWords, many Internet users now ignore the ‘sponsored listing’ which appear to the tope of the listing pages since they are often disappointed with the result when they click on them.
PULSE SEO work to get you a place high on the search engine listing for whatever keyword is searched for and have you appear in the organic listings rather than the sponsored links. This means once we have got you your place that changes of maintaining that position is that much greater because you have earned the place based on the content and useful information on your website that matches the searched for term.
Google Adwords can work for some and for short term campaigns but once you stop paying the search engine for the listing you will disappear. Getting a place on the organic listing however will mean the results keep returning again and again well into the future so it is an investment that will keep providing dividends.
SEO OVERHAUL – WHAT’S IT GOING TO COST
We have a very simple price formula for our SEO Overhaul projects, which is simply calculated with a base fee, plus an additional cost per page / section on your website.
You can usually determine the number of pages easily as they are often linked to directly from the navigation menu. However, there may also be additional pages in the site that are not linked from the menu, as well as a number of individual blog posts that also need to be included. Before moving forward with the project we will be able to advise you of the exact cost based on the number of pages that will need to be indexed and you can then decide if you would like to proceed.
So you can get a rough idea of the numbers involved we use this simple formula to calculate the cost – base fee of £195 + an additional £10 for each page.
